Freedom House

Freedom House Detroit is a temporary home for indigent survivors of persecution & violence from around the world who are seeking asylum in the United States and Canada.

We had the honor of collaborating with Freedom House Detroit to create a booklet they would use at their annual fundraiser. We wanted to draw the reader into each refugee’s story, humanizing their experience, evoking solidarity and action. We used large immersive photos and emphasized survivors’ names with bold typography. A second narrative, set in a large contrasting sans serif type, and printed on almost translucent paper, is woven throughout the booklet, tying all four stories together. The end result is an intimate look into the lives of those who are often reduced to politics and numbers.
